I thought I might put this down to benefit anyone who is a little confused by something in Dead Space.
Basically any questions that dont deserve their own thread can be directed here and any other members can help answer.

First question...

I one of the later Chaptes we enter the crews quarters, and the first thing we see are lots of bodies, my questionis :

Did the bodies have bags on their heads inorder to suffocate?
Was that the Units killing themselves to ascend?

This is MY opinion , dont take this as cannon :

in short , no to the first question , and yes to the second one

If you notice , each of them has a faint bloodshot on their foreheads. or most of them anyways.
The ones with the bags covering their heads are actually the unitolgists that Dr.Mercer managed to sway into his "doomsday cult" idea.

So , they killed each other by driving some sort of sharp object through their foreheads , to facilitate the Infectors to....well , "ascend" them , and they are wearing the bags over their heads because its part of the religion , they wouldnt dare to "stare at the Hand of God" so to speak. And also because had most of them seen one of the infectors closing in , they would try to escape of course , unless their zeal was like Dr.Mercer's.

I have one, but it's more of a theory.
In chapter 7: Into the void
right were the power cell is on the lowest level of the mining deck, were the furnices and the giant astroid are. The circle of hands.
Any theories on what they are there for.

I have two ideas:
1: A Cult following
2: Another insane surviver just collected arms before being killed.

but i want to hear your theories.
