Default Rate the game!

So, I think Extraction released yesterday. What'd you guys think of it?
Love it or hate it!
I shall never know because, being a Wii-hater, I don't own a Wii.
Maybe they'll eventually release it onto the PS3.

Is this forum still alive?

Well, I don't know exactly how many chapters Extraction has, but playing it for about an hour and a half-ish, I made it to Chapter 3. I like the story so far...

SPOILERS...

...The game starts out as you being Lexine's boyfriend AND you are the one being manipulated by the Marker, but you under the impression that it is everyone else under the influence. Needless to say, you kill numerous innocent, non-Marker influenced individuals and are eventually brought down by Nate McNeal (A P-Sec officer/detective). You then, move through the game (at least while at the point in the game I am) as Nate.

One thing I find odd about the game is the characters seem to travel in a group of about four. Now, I'm sure this will quickly disappear as the game progresses...But still! In Dead Space, you pretty much only saw Isaac the entire time...I don't know.

Something else I find a bit disturbing is how the colony now strangely enough has its origins in Scotland, England, et cetera. Seriously, almost everyone I've encountered has a British or Scotish accent. I find nothing wrong with that aside from the simple fact that no one in Dead Space sounded like they were from the British Isles. Maybe its just me...

The game has a great resemblence to the Umbrella Chronicles namely because of the rail game setup and the fact that your grabbing guns, ammo, files, et cetera as quick as you can while trying to fend off enemies.

I will say I greatly prefer Dead Space to this prequel...I just liked the feel of it more. Dead Space was obviously survival horror...Squander ammo...Creep around the corners...But Extraction (again being a rail game) feels like shoot the crap out of whatever comes on screen and get some story while you're at it.

I've enjoyed it thus far.

OH! And it has the whispers again! Some you can hear plain as day saying things like "Shut up! Don't tell Lexine. Don't tell her anything," and of course you still have the murmur/hard to understand ones.

Okay, so I played another two chapters in the last three days...(The game just really isn't sucking me in like the original). This game almost feels like a playable version of Dead Space: Downfall. You are basically a group of confused individuals making your way through the USG Ishimura trying to figure out why the dead people are coming back to life and trying to kill you.

We did meet up with Nicole in the medical labs. I am glad to see a connection between the first game and the prequel.

One thing I find surprising is that the Flamethrower in Extraction has magical powers and ACTUALLY WORKS in deep space. For those of you that may recall from the original Dead Space, the Flamethrower did not work in space due to there being no oxygen in space. That was clearly an "Oh, snap, we be mess up!" by Visceral.

The game is good so far, but still pretty meh at the same time. I don't really love it or hate it...

Ya the flamethrower was working in space and i frowned on that! The ripper was a fun tool to use in this game, i like how you can control its distance.

The best chapters of the game are 5,7,9 because they are the darkest and the dementia you experiance is the scariest shit in the whole game! And if you like great charcter death scenes these house the best by far.

But the most important part of these chapters are the homage to the original deadspace and if you want to be spoiled read on....

SPOILERS!!!!

Ch5. Nicole helps you out, You set up the baracade, You witness the hull of the ship blow out right before the Zero G therepy room.

Ch7: Both in DS and DSE chapter 7 is in hydroponics

Ch9: You see nicole sending out her suicide note, you disable the ADS cannon, and the hand floating on the cover of Dead Space is your hand! you hack it off!!!!!

Oh, I am intrigued now to see this hand sawing off business. It kind of makes me curious as to why whats-his-face does it...Neil...NATE! I have trouble keeping this guy's name straight in my mind for some reason.

How many chapters are there? I'm guessing you've finished it already. I did read somewhere that the game is quite short when compared to Dead Space.

What do you think of the upgrade/weapon's system? I mean, they made it SO easy to upgrade a weapon granted you are paying attention to the purple things. That weapon changing system pisses me off. I have, at least two times, been stuck with a crappier weapon due to me thinking I was rejecting the old weapon, but was in fact rejecting the new one. Its probably just idiot moments on my part...Meh.

oh its exciting!
Only 10 sadly, it is short and i was deeply disappointed with ch 10, but not as much as i was with ch 12 on the Original game. See in dead Space the tension started to pick up speed and got so frightning at the end of ch 11 but then you go on to ch 12 and the whole level is layed back and the tension you build up dies until kendra and issac have the foot race to the shuttle.
But in extraction you start to build that scary tension from ch 4 to the end of the game, but ch 10 ruin the streak, ch 9 was the funniest part of Extraction and then ch 10 comes along and it is nothing but a challenge mode! it pissed me off.

The bosses in extraction had a lot more to them then the Leviathian and Hive mind did in DS.

I loved it, it was a lot eisier then in Dead Space. The one trouble i had was managing my weopens, i made it a priority to have my plasma cutter with me and the rivet gun, but then my last two slots i had to keep choosing over to use my force gun with a line gun, or a pulse riffle with ripper, i hate having to make dissicions.

Wow, that's kind of sad when I think about it: I'm pretty much halfway through the game and only have been playing it for about 3 hours total. Meh.

Yeah, I notice I keep sticking with the Flamethrower namely because I don't have to pay too much attention. I can slow them down with the Flamethrower and then switch over to something else to pick them apart. Niceness.

Wait, hold up. You have to hack off your own hand?
That's got my attention. Why? Do you play as the woman or the scary-looking dude?

In that section you play as Nate

At that moment, gabe is unconsious, warren is dead and Lexane is alone taking care of Gabe.
Nate just came back from disableing the ADS canon when a slug boss attacked him, when he thought it died, it came back and nailed his hand to the ship while he begain to lose oxygen, you then have 20 seconds to hack off your arm or die.
