I really like the look and feel of the comics. It's dark, but it's comic edge has a way different feel from the game, and I like the sketchy style of it. I started playing the game first and got this realistic, serious movie feel from it, but after seeing the comics, it sort of changed the way I feel when playing the game now just because the comic imagery is in the back of my mind while I play it.
The only thing I find odd is the fact that both the comics and the movie are totally distant from the game itself, that Isaac and the remaining cast aren't present in any of it. I understand that the comics and movie are designed to give a history of the game, probably provide an outlet to the artists and creators to reveal all of the story they developed that couldn't make it into the game, and I'm okay with that. It just seems odd to me, I guess because Isaac really is my favorite part of the game, the one thing about Dead Space that attracted me to it in the first place. Not seeing any backlog on him or any of the other main game characters kinda left me feeling, I don't know - unsatisfied in a way. They're still really good, but personally I would like to have seen more of Isaac, since he seems to be such an important aspect of the story.
However, I also understand that the story behind Dead Space isn't really just about Isaac, it is telling the story of something that encompasses something far more than just his own personal story and he's more or less just one small speck in this vast expanse of time, so it's okay. I guess. I'm just being a whiner because I'm not getting what I want.
