Consider
I thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of necromorphs in Dead Space 1, so I will share with you a few of many ideas I have for the necromorphs in Dead Space 2.
My first idea is to create a relatively slow, slug-like necromorph that is covered in slime. A burden, the slime it secretes is seemingly involuntarily and slows the creature's speed down. However, the slime acts as insulation against high intensity heat. Also, at short distances, it is capable of spewing slime into your face or at your feet, thus slowing you down or temporarily blinding/blurring your vision. A frightening addition to this necromorph is that if you constantly irritate it without successfully killing it, it may "dry out" and start to approach you at increasing speeds. This creature looks like a cross between a snake and a giant slug that was placed in a microwave for several seconds.
A second idea I had isn't necessarily a new type of necromorph, but rather to have "starving" or "rogue" necromorphs of any species that will attack and/or consume anything(including other necromorphs). Like a dominant male, they intimidate others and show increased levels of aggression.
Lastly, I think it would be interesting to have a completely blind necromorph that is highly keen to hearing sounds, but in order to kill it effectively you have to shoot it in the back. I can imagine the suspense of running around a corner and realizing you just alerted one not 10 feet away. Now you have to run and hide until it passes so you can shoot it in the back. Like a bat, this creature could have the ability to use Echolocation - it could be an audible noise: something that you have to stop and listen closely to hear in order to determine if it is close to you or not, or whether it is heading in your direction.
Maybe it would be better, like my previous idea, to allow any species of necromorph to be blind.
One aspect of Dead Space 1 that made it so interesting to me is that in order to increase my chances of survival, I had to learn the sights and sounds of each individual necromorph(let alone their weaknesses and behaviors).
